Title: Beginnings Fandom: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords Characters: Jedi Exile (Female)/Atton Rand Prompt: Beginnings Word Count: 277 Rating: T Summary: A Jedi Padawan asks Master Rand about his past. Author's Notes: It's too long for a drabble and too short for a real piece. Clearly I just suck at life? - “Master Rand?” “Something up?” “May I ask a question?” “You already have.” “Um…” “Don’t worry about it, kid, it’s a bad joke. What did you want to know?” “Well, I was curious. If all the Jedi were wiped out, how did you become a Jedi?” “It was Master… it was the Exile.” “You do not use her name?” “It’s a personal thing.” “Forgive me, Master.” “It’s fine. Yeah, it began on Nar Shaddaa. She first… showed me the force, I guess. Let me see it.” “Why?” “Well, she said I had the gift, and she’d seen it while we were together. So I guess it really began before then, when I first met her.” “What happened?” “Well, I met her on the mining colony of Peragus, it’s kind of an amusing… don’t worry about it. You’re too young. Anyway, yes, when we were there, she heard about my past, and I guess… I don’t know, something about her made me trust her. So I told her about my past.” “Your past? Then it did not truly begin with Master- with the Exile?” “No, I guess not. I suppose it began with… there was a Jedi. In my past. When I was still an assassin, killing Jedi for Darth Revan. I caught her, and I was torturing her, and before she died, she told me I was force sensitive, and showed me the force. I killed her for it. It’s not something I’m proud of, but it’s what happened.” “You killed Jedi for Darth Revan?” “Yes.” “Then it did not truly begin with this Jedi, did it?” “Look, kid, why don’t you go bother Mical for a while.”
